3 Mortal Kombat Titles That Fans Are Asking For!

Whether you've known it or not, Mortal Kombat doesn't always have to be a standard fighting game to be successful - look at Shaolin Monks for example, which sold over 1 million copies and was widely received by critics. We've also seen our fair share of terrible titles - looking at you, Special Forces!

So, here's our picks for what we'd consider to be an instant classic upon release:

Motor Kombat 2

The original Motor Kombat debuted within the release of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon as a minigame. It had 10 playable characters each with their own special moves and although it didn't have many stages, they were well designed; filled with traps and other obstacles that could delay your position to first.

All this, was only just a small portion of Armageddon. Could you imagine if they developed a new standalone title on modern systems? Filled with unlockables and secrets to keep us playing, and several more playable characters and stages? Maybe even throw in boss races much like our beloved Crash Team Racing or Diddy Kong Racing. Of course, they could keep the fatality system to satisfy our thirst for blood! In hindsight, it's a great concept that I hope we get to see again someday.

Mortal Kombat: The MMO

The closest glimpse we've ever gotten to an actual Mortal Kombat MMO is the Konquest mode from Mortal Kombat: Deception. Yes, we know. That wasn't an MMO at all, but it was the first time we were able to explore various realms at will and it has never been replicated by any of the games since. It had a sense of freedom, day/night cycles with various secrets only appearing after a certain time has passed to be obtainable - the whole concept peaked our interests for months!

As an MMO, how would the combat work though? Perhaps they could pull off a switch to traditional fighting system whenever you encounter an enemy, much like Konquest mode did! Or, maybe they could make the kombat more action oriented like Shaolin Monks or, since we're speaking about MMO's - DCUO. Either way, we truly believe that a Mortal Kombat MMO if done right, could do well! Me personally, I wouldn't mind spending $15 a month if the game is as amazing as it appears in our minds.

MK vs DC 2!

We're kidding! Ed, if you're reading this; please, no!

The real answer:

A sequel to Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks

Shaolin Monks took a lot of people by surprise by how good it was. Yes, it had some cheesy moments and some sketchy writing here and there, but in my personal opinion, it's the best title to ever center around the world of Mortal Kombat. I mean, the best title to not feature the standard fighting game formula of course.

Or, should I even say sequel? Perhaps the Monks storyline has ended, but how cool would it be to get another action-oriented game using the same fighting and story-telling mechanics that the original Monks had? of course, update the engine for modern consoles and maybe fix the horrendous camera issues that Shaolin Monks had at times, it could be a masterpiece! Perhaps add various playable characters such as Jax and Sonya, each getting their own storyline within the game.

So there you have it! These are our picks, but there's more that could be said. We want to hear from you! What would be your ideal Mortal Kombat game?
